Midlife Rider Resource Library

A curated collection for your second season in the saddle.

If you’ve been riding for a while, then you know that this journey is never just about riding. It’s also about who we’re becoming.

This page is a growing collection of the things that support that becoming.

  • Books

  • Tools

  • Supports that keep us in the saddle longer.

All of these things are shared because they’ve meant something to me.

This library will grow slowly. I invite you to take what resonates and leave the rest.

And if you’re new here, you’re warmly invited to subscribe to Riding Through so you don’t miss our weekly conversations for midlife riders in their second season.

Your trust matters more than any commission ever could.

Staying in the Saddle

Movement, mobility, and strength for riding through midlife.

As always, you should talk to your doctor before beginning any exercise routines to ensure it’s a good fit for you. These are some that I personally use and love.

YouTube

  • Sarah Starr – she offers chair yoga that is great for beginners

  • Yoga with Uliana – standing yoga, seated yoga and beginner yoga too. There are lots of options to explore.

  • Qi Gong for Vitality – a variety of practice videos to choose from here.

  • yes2next - this mother/daughter duo offer up seated and standing routines from yoga to weights and more.

  • Senior Shape Fitness - this channel offers a wide variety of exercise videos including stretching, yoga, pilates, weights and bands + so much more.

Equipment

  • TheraBand Resistance Bands I use bands like these to maintain strength between rides. They’re easier on my hands than dumbbells and still offer real resistance.

Barn & Body Essentials

Clean, practical support for riding through midlife. Our barn days ask a lot of us. Early mornings. Long hours on our feet. Weather that changes its mind without warning. Muscles that sometimes remind us we are, in fact, in our second season. This section is for the practical things that help us feel supported in our bodies while we stay devoted to our horses.
